Mermaid's Touch by arania Mermaid's Touch by arania
And the recent piece that I'm MOST proud of - the product of about three days straight of work, here's my mermaid piece. I wanted to work in some aspects that this isn't just a shiny happy mermaid - the claws, and the very mysterious expression. Is this a lovely young mer-woman... or is this a siren-esque creature to lure young men to their deaths?

The concept is looking down into the water as she's coming up to see you, hand extended to touch the surface from beneath.

This is beautiful- and I especially love the webbed fingers and those sharp nails, like she's going to use them to tear her prey apart...

Thank you! I wanted to have her look beautiful but with some subtle predatory aspects like that - kind of the deceptive beauty :)

I am absolutely in love with this... she is gorgeous. The angle and perspective are awesome too, along with the colouration!

Very, very nice.

I see a lot of "non-Disney" mermaids taken way far to the left, liberally blended with the aquatic. Extremely exotic, extremely alien. And I'm perfectly fine with that to be honest.

This is a more balanced piece. Not an ultra-conservative, standard woman lopped in half and glued to a fish, and not some hyper-liberal, sem-Lovecraftian fish-person, either. She's not human, but she's not completely inhuman... or, so she appears. The subtly of it all really gives this piece its draw.

The soft cool color scheme, the artful use of texture, and the attention to detail all make this an excellent work of art indeed. Not my personal favorite within your gallery, if only for the subject matter, but it's clear why anyone would be proud of this piece.

Wow, how gorgeous! I love the detail and her face; she's got one hell of a seductive gaze! Awesome work!
